  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the chili simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the rinsed pinto beans and salt; stir well and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Serve hot.
